The last day before spring break will be a memorable one for all. Get ready for the Students vs. Teachers Hudayriat Obstacle Courses Competition on Thursday, 25th of March 2021.

What is the hudayriat obstacle course?

The Spirit week obstacle course has been planned by two of the best Physical Education teachers at Gems American Academy, Mr. Rashleigh and Ms. Jaltova. They got approval by the student government for this idea and we’re very excited about this special event. They chose this event as a result of the pandemic due to the cancellation of the Powderpuff game between Juniors and Seniors during spirit week which would have also been before spring break. This event will be held on Thursday, 25th of March; Grades 9 to 10 from 4:00-6:00 p.m and Grades 11 to 12 with Faculty from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Additionally, to not push away the middle schoolers and make them feel unwanted in the GAA community, there will be a separate event on Friday, 26th March for all middle school students(grades 6-8) interested in participating. The timings for this event on the 26th is from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Procedure of the obstacle course

What will be the procedure of the Obstacle course competition ? For the Obstacle course event it will be a competition between 9th and 10th, and 11th and 12th graders, faculty members and teachers. This event will be an entertaining way for students, faculty members and teachers to enjoy themselves and bond with one another before they part for spring break. During the Covid-19 lockdown many people were not as active as much as they wanted to be, or they felt unmotivated, which is why this event is a  good mix of being able to have fun and being active.

How to sign up for the obstacle course

For students who want to participate in this event by just watching or by actually participating in the obstacles there will be a registration form that they will need to fill out, attached to the flyer. This includes adding their grade level and date of birth in the notes section. Students will also need to sign and submit the waiver form and pay 100 dhs per person via online payment. All students must note that Participation fees will not be considered after Monday 22nd of March. All students are advised to wear comfortable clothing, follow social distancing guidelines and bring water. Moreover, food and beverages will be available and provided on site for purchase.
