In the winter of 2020, PS5 and Xbox series x were finally released. Many readers are wondering which console to buy and put in the living room. Sony and Microsoft’s two flagship consoles can play 4K games up to 120 frames per second, and support lay-tracing as well as shorter loading times. The two companies are competing for the upper hand by differentiating their own special technology in different ways and directions.

Specs&Design 

First, the full design of the two consoles. The PS5 is wide horizontally and high vertically. Also, the left and right plates are slightly bent to maximize the effect of inhalation cooling, which is a PS5 cooling method. However, the disadvantage is that the size is too big, so it may not fit with the furniture around it. The Xbox series x is designed to be narrow horizontally and high vertically. The Xbox series x is generally rectangular column-shaped with the top dent out like a net. The chimney-shaped design further strengthens the new cooling system, making airflow from bottom to top smoothly. In addition, the simple design of Xbox series x matches the surrounding furniture. Personally, I will give 3 out of 5 to the Xbox series x design and 2 out of 5 thumbs to Ps5.

With higher specifications and more storage capacity, the Xbox series x is good for players who play a lot of games. At the same time, the disadvantage is that the storage speed is slightly slower than the SSD speed of PS5. Nevertheless, the rest of the specifications are Xbox series x overpowering the PS5. So I give the Xbox series x 3 out of 5 and PS5 2 out of 5.

Controllers

Third, compare controllers. First of all, the controllers of x box series x were said to be good before. With the launch of this new console, the controller has changed a lot. This change feels more complete by further refining existing pads that are close to completion, such as reducing the weight, size, and changing materials for grip.

PS5 also had major changes in controllers. First, Sony changed the name of the controller from dual shock to dual sense, and by applying Haptic feedback and adaptive trigger, it allows gamers to enjoy completely new games. Haptic feedback is a technique that allows users to experience new experiences by giving a variety of vibrations on their hands, which is made to feel the game situation by touch as well as by visual and hearing, which are traditional feedback elements. Users can feel the situation of falling into the water and the character fluttering, sliding on the ice, or being swept away by sand with different senses of touch. Twitch streamer “woowakgood” said, “With haptic feedback, the vibrations are detailed and realistic, and the vibrations provided in every background are different.”

Adaptive trigger, a different configuration of the pressure applied to each button depending on the situation of the game allows players to feel unique to each action of the character 

(Depending on the type of gun, the type of weapon and the skill, the vibration and pressure of the trigger change). Additionally, The adaptive trigger changed the shape of the trigger angle and handle.

 Therefore, I will give 5 out of 5 to the PS5 controller, which adds new feedback elements to gamers, and 4 out of 5 to Xbox series x.

Games

Major game comparison. Both Sony and Microsoft have excellent games. PS5’s flagship games Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon II: Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7.Xbox series x has several games, including Halo Infinite, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Forza Motorsport 8. But in terms of the number of exclusive games, it’s hard to deny that PS5 now has a more interesting game choice. Related to its title, the PS5 was released with Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and the surprisingly delightful Astro’s Playroom.

Nevertheless, “Xbox game pass ultimate” is emerging as a rival. But even if the Xbox is emerging as a counter-horse, and even though the amount of games is similar, More interesting exclusive IP games are less than ps5. So for now, and for the time being, Sony’s exclusive games have gained more ground and had a lot of funnier games than the Xbox series x. Therefore, I will give 4 out of 5 to PS5 and 3 out of 5 to Xbox series x.

In conclusion, the X-box series X and PS5 tied. If I recommend a console, the person who wants better performance and better design will be Xbox Series X. If you want to experience more fun exclusive games, new types of micro-vibration controllers, I recommend PlayStation 5. Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X cost $499.
