There’s a great story behind every piece of artwork

Louvre Trip for IB students

This piece of art fascinates one of the students, Israa. He eyed the details of the painting, and wondered. “How did they manage to be so precise?”

On November 3rd, students at GAA who took full IB took a trip to the Louvre. For those who don’t know, the Louvre is a Museum Located on Saadiyat Island; it has famous art pieces from all over the world and it is a great place to go to for people who are very interested in art.

“I was very intrigued when I first saw the Mona Lisa in real life, I wanted to see the rest of the other famous paintings instantly!” said Israa, 11th grader. This made me excited because art interests me–every aspect of it. And when Israa told me all about her trip to the Louvre, it made me want to visit it and see all the art pieces again.

In addition, there are many activities to do at the Louvre. You can watch a movie at night or attend the drawing and painting activities in the morning with your younger siblings. The Louvre is honestly one of my favorite places to go to in Abu Dhabi because it’s very calm and quiet, especially during the early morning or at night where no one is around.

The idea of walking around and looking at various paintings which have different stories each is fascinating, you’re literally just looking at a portrait or artifact but this object holds so much meaning and there’s a great story behind it.

“Being an artist or being able to draw and paint beautifully is such a great talent, and anyone who has it should be very grateful to have this amazing gift” Israa said. I honestly couldn’t agree more because you can express your feelings with different drawings and paintings and no artwork is ever going to look the same.

Overall, I think this trip was both educational and something to change up the mood a little bit with IB students because they deserve some kind of break since they’re working so hard, and are often very stressed about their IB courses.
