Cinderella is coming to GAA!

Cinderella+is+coming+to+GAA%21

Starting December 8th, GAA breathes life into the cherished fairy tale of ‘Cinderella’. This play was chosen using a collaborative process between the Performing Arts Teachers and students. When given a list of musicals, they ultimately selected ‘Cinderella’ because of its timeless charm and enchanting storytelling.

At the heart of ‘Cinderella’ is the transformative journey of a young woman oppressed by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters. A tale is all about the enduring human spirit, the power of kindness, and love. The team’s main goal for this event is to bring its audience a sense of community and joy and, more importantly, showcase the talent that walks the hallways of GAA. Students are performing, working backstage, designing lights and costumes, playing in the orchestra, and creating the set – and they’re doing an incredible job.

The advantage that sets apart this version of ‘Cinderella’ from the fairytale is through captivating visuals and compelling performances—using music to emphasize essential moments, emotions, or character traits. Moreover, the chosen dialogue adds depth to each character, uncovering layers beyond the simple archetypes found in the original tale. In this adaptation, subtle changes have been made to enhance the narrative and its themes of resilience, courage, and the power of kindness.

Despite the predominant elements of fantasy, ‘Cinderella’ is grounded in reality and emotion, making it universally relatable. It’s a gentle reminder that magic is not just about fairy godmothers and glass slippers but can be found in the smallest acts of kindness.
