GAA students excited about the 2022 FIFA World Cup

After waiting for almost 4 years, the world is ready to have a new world cup winner, held in an Arab country for the first time in football history after France won the previous 2018 World Cup in Russia, defeating Croatia 4-2 in the final in Moscow. Qatar, one of the richest countries in the world located in the gulf region will be hosting Fifa World Cup 2022. A total of eight stadiums spread across five different Qatari cities will host 32 teams in 64 matches during the FIFA World Cup 2022. The World cup will occur from November 20, 2022 to December 18, 2022. The ruler of Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim Al Thani said “Since we won the honor of hosting the World Cup, Qatar has been subjected to an unprecedented campaign that no host country has ever faced,” the emir said in a speech. 

According to ​​DAVOS, Switzerland (Reuters) – “The 2022 World Cup hosted by Qatar is expected to be watched by 5 billion people around the world”, FIFA president Gianni Infantino said on May 23, 2022. For the next three weeks, GAA students are pumped up about the world cup where they will represent their country in this private international school with over 100 nationalities. As a matter of fact, Gems American Academy will be hosting a Fall Festival event on the 26th of November to watch one of the 64 Fifa world cup games where Saudi Arabia and Poland will be challenging each other to qualify for the round of sixteens. 

Millions and millions of people will be attending the games held in Qatar and Billions of people will be watching from home. According to a GAA senior Ahmed Ariqat, “The World Cup is a historical event and a big source of entertainment that half of the world will be watching all across the globe. During this time, I will put most of my time into watching all of the games with my family and friends and seeing who the next world cup winner will be, and making the whole world chant their name.” In conclusion, be ready as the countdown is over and buckle up, as this is the most historical event of entertainment in the year 2022.
