Most GAA students would agree that baby seals or baby animals of any kind are cute. This article is about baby seals sharing a rare vocal ability with humans, study finds how Harbor seal pups’ rare vocal ability could help researchers understand more about animal and human speech, according to a new study. According to the study published on Monday in the journal Philosophical Transactions of The Royal Society B., They stated that being able to clearly and accurately communicate is essential for mating opportunities, escaping from predators, and social learning. 

Besides being an adorable and important part of marine ecosystems, baby seals might have a strange ability. They can change the pitch of their voices to be better understood as humans do, a new study found, and very few mammals have the capacity to change their vocal pitch to sound higher or lower, which is critical for human communication. The authors then tested eight wild-born, healthy and unrelated harbour seals that were between 1 and 3 weeks old and from the Seal Rehabilitation and Research Centre in the Netherlands. This centre ultimately releases seals back into the wild. They discovered that after releasing the seals back into the wild they become more calm and safe and sound in the Marine Mammal Center’s hospital where the pup will be monitored, treated
